Steve Gailey

Steve Gailey is a lifelong Hall County resident, community leader, and former public servant who has dedicated decades to improving the quality of life for families across North Georgia.

Steve previously served as Hall County District 3 Commissioner from 2002 to 2010, where he built a reputation for fiscal responsibility, smart growth, and strong support for public safety. Before serving at the county level, Steve was also Mayor of Clermont, Georgia and a member of the Clermont City Council, gaining valuable experience working directly with local residents and businesses.

During his time as County Commissioner, Steve played a key role in several projects that continue to benefit Hall County residents today. A few of these accomplishments include helping establish important community resources such as the Spout Springs Library, the East Hall Community Center, the Mulberry Creek Park & Community Center, and the North Hall Community Center. He also helped lead the effort to purchase the Hall County Government Center, a move that helped save taxpayers millions of dollars while strengthening the county’s environmental services.

Steve built his public service career around a simple principle: protect taxpayers and invest wisely in the community’s future. During his time in office, he never voted for a tax increase, while still ensuring that Hall County continued to improve infrastructure, expand community facilities, and strengthen public safety services.

Outside of government, Steve built a long and successful professional career. He worked in Plant Engineering at Atlantic Steel Company before spending 38 years as an environmental consultant, helping businesses and communities meet environmental standards and operate responsibly.  Steve focused on the food and beverage industry and its wastewater and how to make it environmentally safe. After nearly four decades in the field, Steve retired in January 2025.

Steve is also proud of his deep roots in Hall County. He attended Clermont Elementary School, North Hall High School, and later Southern Technical Institute. His lifelong connection to the area has given him a deep understanding of the community’s history, challenges, and opportunities.

Family is central to Steve’s life. He was married to his wife for 39 years until her passing in March 2024, and together they raised two children, William and Audrey. Steve is also the proud grandfather of four grandsons: Clay, Easton, Eamon, and Beckham.

As a lifelong resident, former commissioner, and community leader, Steve remains committed to protecting the values that make Hall County a special place to live — responsible growth, strong public safety, and protecting taxpayers.
